Baby Update!

So my last post concerning this pregnancy was about morning sickness and the things I have discovered along this journey. I am happy to say that we are out of morning sickness stage! Yay!

Here are some things I did that really helped move it along:

  • Garlic 2 x a day ( garlic taken raw is very soothing to the digestive track, kills bacteria ect. When you begin to smell like garlic, you know you are done taking it!)

  • Probiotics ( builds the good bacteria in the intestinal tract, keeping the yeast and bacteria ph in balance)

I did this for a few days and experienced amazing improvement in my sickness, bowel movements and overall well being. After a short time I was able to add in 4 Alfalfa capsules a day. Alfalfa is nature's multi-vitamin and an excellent source of your B-vitamins. Provides great energy and nutrition. I was also able to add back in my FrequenSea - powerhouse of not only vitamins, but essential trace minerals, all essential fatty acids, essential amino acids and more.

We had an ultrasound today and got a confirmed due date of 12.05.12 - my sweet husbands b-day :) Got to see baby moving and it was SO cute! Everything looked healthy and well formed. I am so excited and will continue to share with you what I am doing to stay healthy, fit and ready for a natural birth experience :)

Combined Forces for HIA!

I love how life evolves. It is ever changing and we are always progressing and gaining new heights. My newest progression/addition is teaming up with a "sister site." Not only is this site going to be a sister to my site, supporting and adding to the information I share, but it is MY sister!!

I introduce you to Elisa Wadsworth. My sister, friend, mentor, mother of 5 amazing boys, and companion health enthusiast :) We have been on the same path of learning over the last 8 years, bringing us to where we are today in raising our families and ever increasing our health.

Although we have been on the same path of learning, we have both developed an affinity for different avenues in the spectrum of health. I have found a deep connection with the healing side; using herbs, essential oils and energy work. She has become very efficient in whole foods, on a budget and feeding your body right! And the best part, is she makes it EASY for anyone who is ready to start.

We are teaming up, combining our strengths to create what we hope to be a wealth of information for you. Not only making it easy to find answers, but to implement those answers!

Elisa will be the main source of information for whole food nutrition, while I will continue to make a bigger focus on herbal preparations and essential oils - making it a sure fire way for you and your families best health!

There will be lots of information coming over the next little while, as we combine forces, especially about Elisa's new Whole Foods Binder System that she will be releasing very soon!! Check it out and stay tuned for more!!

Low-heated Sprouted Oat Groats

Oatmeal has always been one of my most favorite foods. Over time, as I continued my education in whole food living, I learned the importance of eating whole grains; the grains themselves vs. processed forms. Yes, rolled oats are a processed form of oat groats :) Eating the whole grain ensures you get the balanced nutrition that is amazingly present in the food.

I buy my oat groats in bulk from my health food store. It saves money and builds my food storage!

When you sprout a food; grain, seed, nut, legume, you will increase it's nutritional value by 300 to 600%! Not to mention it digests easier, like a vegetable :)

Low-heat cooking ensures that you are keeping all the nutrition and digestive enzymes, adding life to your body instead of deadness.

This isn't a new thing I have made up, in the nutrition world sprouting and low heat cooking are very well known. This is just me sharing with you another healthy tip to improve your relationship with food :)

  • 3 cups water

  • 1 cup oat groats

Put water into pot and bring to boil. I also like to make my oven warm during this process so I will turn it on to pre-heat a little.  When the water is at a boil, remove from heat and turn oven off. Add groats, put lid on and place in oven. Do this at bed time and when you wake up the next morning, breakfast is ready! Top with honey, agave nectar, cinnamon, or whatever your favorite oatmeal topping is :)

Spelt Blueberry Muffins

This recipe was so fun for me to make. I LOVE muffins, especially fresh hot from the oven with a bit of coconut oil or raw organic butter...MMMMMM I hope you like these as much as me and my family do..... they were all gone within 15 min!

  •  1 1/2 cups almond milk

  • 2 flax eggs

  • 1/2 cup turbinado

  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil

  • 1 tsp. almond extract ( or your choice of flavoring)

  • 2 1/4 cup spelt flour

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 4 tsp. baking powder

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Preheat oven to 425. Mix all wet ingredients. Stir dry ingredients in a bowl and then add to wet ingredients. Mix well for about a min. Batter will be thick, stir in blueberries.

Pour into muffin tin, fill all the way. ( use paper or grease the cups with some coconut oil. Do not use aluminum cups!) Cook for about 16 min. Will make about 15 muffins. They will be dense and moist and melt in your mouth!
